She Gently Rolls A Rolling Pin Over A Leaf For A Stylish And Functional Bowl For Fall

As the weather starts to cool down, it's so fun to start getting my home looking seasonal and cozy. Fall is hands down my favorite season. It's crisp, cozy, and colorful.

For me, there is no better way to welcome the colorful autumn season than making some DIY decorations with leaves.

There are so many fun DIY projects to decorate for the upcoming fall months, and I recently found a great idea for clay autumn leaf bowls. Not only are they super easy to make, they look so festive. It's a great project you can do in an afternoon with your kids — or by yourself.

They are made with air-dry clay, using real leaves to create a beautiful pressed pattern on the surface of the clay. They are so cute when they're finished and can be very versatile. I personally love to have them to hold small pieces of jewelry, but they can be used in so many ways. You can even use them as a table centerpiece, surrounded by all the best fall has to offer like mini pumpkins, acorns, and gourds.

Ready to see how easy this is to make? Grab your supplies, and follow the step-by-step tutorial below.

1. Roll out the air-dry clay with an acrylic clay rolling pin.

I rolled the clay to about 1/4-inch thickness.

2. Push the fall leaf into the clay. Then roll the rolling pin directly over the leaf.

You'll want to push it into the surface of the clay, so all the details of the leaf are imprinted on it.

3. Cut around the leaf with a sharp knife, using the leaf itself as a template.

If you're making this with kids, this part should be left to the adults.

4. Transfer the clay to a bowl, where it will complete its drying.

5. When dry, paint the leaves a variety of beautiful autumn colors.

Once dry, you can set out the clay leaf bowls and use them as you like.

How cute are these bowls?

I turned a few into cute jewelry holders, and the others into a collection of decor that can hold all my "out-the-door" accessories, like keys, glasses, and spare change. It makes these cute crafts festive and functional.
