Dad’s Last-Minute Trip Forces Pregnant Mom To Bring Daughter To Work On Football Field

Moms everywhere know the struggle: multitasking while pregnant or with kids in tow isn't easy. Something or someone always commands your attention, tasks need to be completed, and some part of your body always seems to ache.

There is no such thing as a break from being a mother.

But some women relish the responsibilities of not just motherhood, but being a working woman as well. They embrace the difficulty of multitasking, and, even when it seems hard, they power through.

One such amazing woman is Dr. Megan Meier, a team doctor for Putnam City North High School, the University of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma City Ballet, among other organizations. At 35 weeks pregnant, she proudly showed up to work, and even had her 3-year-old daughter in tow!

Of course, this wasn't the doctor's choice, as her husband had other duties to tend to. But the mother, whose photo is now going viral, wanted to say that she, like many women, can find solutions when put in delicate situations and when they are in delicate states. A pregnancy and a child wasn't an excuse for her to take the day off! Motherhood doesn't replace a job — it complements it!

Now scroll down to read what this incredible mom had to say about the experience…

Hello! I am Dr. Megan Meier. I am a sports medicine and dance medicine physician in Oklahoma City, OK. A photo of me providing sideline coverage for my high school football team, Putnam City North, recently went viral! I want to thank all of you who have taken an interest in me and more importantly, in this photo.

I captioned the photo "Sports Medicine Doctor Mom–this is what happens when you are 35 weeks pregnant, husband leaves town for the weekend, childcare for 3yo falls through, and you have a game to cover!"

I posted this to a group of physician mom's because I thought they would enjoy it–seeing a visual representation of what we all do each and every day. I am overwhelmed by all the positive feedback and support the members of this group have given. I really believe that you can have it all and find a great balance to a multi-faceted career and life. However, it takes a lot of hard work and improvisation at times.

Most importantly, it takes a strong community of people supporting each other to make it work. Thank you to Physician Mom Group (PMG) for "getting it."

Thank you to all my family, friends, and colleagues for all the love and shares. Thank you to the teams (that includes athletic trainers, coaches, players, and parents) that I cover, from PC North High School to the University of Oklahoma to the OKC Ballet–I appreciate your support of women (and their families) in medicine and in sports. We have come a long way in 2016.

Please SHARE if you think this working mom is inspiring to women everywhere!
