Netflix Is Officially Ending ‘The Ranch’ And Fans Are Upset Enough To Cancel Their Subscriptions

Netflix's The Ranch is officially coming to an end, and fans are heartbroken about it.

The Ranch first made waves when it debuted in 2016 as the first Netflix-produced comedy series. With costars Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson at the helm, the show was a rare treat for lovers of country music and rural life.

But after its fourth season, the show is coming to an end. Ashton Kutcher announced the end on Twitter, and Netflix confirmed the news to Deadspin.

"@theranchnetflix is coming to an end, but not just yet," Ashton explained.

"We’re excited to bring you the final 20 episodes — 10 streaming later this year (2019) on @netflix, and then 10 more in 2020. Stay tuned!"

Fans reacted to the news with sadness and anger.

"This is depressing," one wrote.

On the other hand, many fans weren't surprised that the show was ending after Danny Masterson's character was written off.

The show wasn't predicted to go past four seasons in the first place, Deadspin reports.

Netflix sure does have a habit of canceling shows that everyone loves, don't they?

Right now, fans are VERY upset about the upcoming end of The Ranch.

The Netflix original series debuted in 2016, starring Ashton Kutcher as Colt Bennett, the former football star.

The third season of the show aired in 2018.

Unfortunately, Ashton had some bad news for fans on Twitter this week. He said the show is "coming to an end" after its fourth season.

Luckily, fans still have some time left before they have to say goodbye forever. The show doesn't officially end until next year.

Ashton tweeted:

“@theranchnetflix is coming to an end, but not just yet. We’re excited to bring you the final 20 episodes — 10 streaming later this year (2019) on @netflix, and then 10 more in 2020. Stay tuned!”

Still, though, fans are PRETTY upset that the show is going to end after next season.

"Why do all the good shows have to go?" one person tweeted.

It does, indeed, seem like Netflix keeps canceling popular shows. It recently canceled One Day at a Time, Friends From College, and everything Marvel, including Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and Luke Cage.

Some people are even threatening to cancel their Netflix subscriptions because of The Ranch ending.

"The Ranch is really the only reason I am still subscribing to Netflix," one user wrote on Twitter.

But Deadline reports that The Ranch hadn't been predicted to go beyond four seasons.

The show is one of the few series that portrays rural life on television. It's set on a Colorado ranch outside of Denver, following Ashton's character as he returns home to help run a family ranching business.

The show was the first Netflix-produced comedy series.

Despite being beloved by fans and critics alike, though, the series has experienced its share of controversy.

Danny Masterson originally costarred in the series. He played Ashton's brother, Rooster.

Danny faced sexual assault allegations by four women, however, and he was written out of the show.

In 2018, Dax Shepard came onto the series as Luke. But many fans think the show has never been quite the same without Danny's character.

So maybe it's not THAT shocking that The Ranch is ending next year.

But hey, fans are still allowed to be sad.

Until the end comes for real, though, fans are anxiously awaiting the next installment of episodes.
