Of all the problems that our amazing country faces, homelessness is one of the most confusing. How can such a prosperous country like the United States possibly have anyone who doesn't have a roof over their head?
Unfortunately, over 600,000 people in this country are considered homeless. Whether it be because they're just down on their luck, or due to some mental illness that has gone unchecked, there are countless reasons that a human could get in such a bad position, and while it's a long and hard journey to get them back on their feet, these people need support instead of judgement.
So to help combat such a horrible problem, a local group of women who call themselves "bag ladies" have come up with a pretty amazing craft project that is helping lives in their community.
Gathering plastic bags, these women cut them all up, tie them together to make a rope of sort, and actually crochet the bag ropes together to make a water resistant and long-lasting mat to sleep on.
While it won't solve the bigger issues at hand, these women were amazing enough to come together and donate these mats to as many people as possible. Instead of sleeping on the dirty ground, these "beds" will give the homeless a chance to gain back a bit of their humanity. It's not the final answer, but it's a start!
Please SHARE this amazing project if you would love to be a "bag lady" in your own community!
