Couple Leaves Waiter $100 Tip After It Took Him 40 Minutes To Bring Them Water

A fact of life is, at least one time while dining out, you will get really poor service at a restaurant.

Bad service can happen for a number of reasons. A waiter can be new and just learning the ropes. Maybe they are having a bad day and unfortunately took it out at work. Or, maybe the bad service isn't even their fault, but the restaurant's fault for short-staffing them.

Sometimes bad service is just because the server is bad, but I don't like to judge without looking at the bigger picture. I don't know my server, they don't know me. Things happen and as long as they aren't rude, I always try to leave a good tip.

Makenzie and Steve Schultz have a similar belief. After receiving terrible service at a sushi restaurant, rather than complain about it, they decided to do something kind. Makenzie and her husband could relate to their waiter's struggle, they'd both waited tables once. Makenzie said she didn't miss it.

Knowing how their server must have felt, they decided to pay it forward and leave him a very generous tip. This is the type of kindness we all need to learn to show strangers on a daily basis!

Makenzie wrote  a viral Facebook post in September 2014, which still garners attention to this day, with people sharing their opinions on the matter.

"So here's the deal. Our service tonight sucked. Took 20 minutes to get water, 40 minutes for an appetizer and over an hour for our entree. People all around us were making fun of the restaurant & how bad the service was. Yeah, it was pretty terrible…"

"But, it was very obvious that the issue was being short staffed, not the server. He was running around like crazy and never acted annoyed with any table. At one point we counted he had 12 tables plus the bar. More than any one person could handle," Makenzie wrote.
