The two athletes took their places, gave themselves a quick pep-talk, looked at each other, and began to jump. Years and years of training have gone into this moment — the competition in which they must keep their height, speed, and tricks all in perfect unison.
In order to move on to the next level of the competition, these men must show off their talent at staying perfectly in sync with each other. They must show good control of their own bodies, all while keeping to the correct style. The men must jump high, sometimes 30 feet in the air, in order to perform their front or backflips.
These two men's routine begins good enough; they're jumping at a good pace, they're staying equal to each other, everything is going quite fine. All of that seems to change at around :27. The man in the distance is jumping at a good height and speed, but he seems to have lost control of his landing point, he goes from one side of the small trampoline to the other side. Eventually, he loses complete control and topples over the edge.
Hitting the ground from a fall of 30 feet is no laughing matter. Even with the protection of the safety mats, you're still falling fast enough to where you could easily break an arm or a leg once you hit the ground. If you land in the wrong position, you could even face fatal consequences!
But that's where the men in blue come in to save the day! Acting as official spotters, these men are forced to make split second judgement calls on whether or not they should jump in to break an athletes fall to the ground.
The young man in this fantastic video thought fast and really put his own safety on the line. He could have gotten hit pretty hard in the face! Our hearts were racing — make sure to watch the slow motion section of the video in order to truly appreciate this young man's fantastically fast response time!
