Recently, due to a mighty thunderstorm in Atlanta, all air traffic was momentarily grounded. And when you watch this breathtaking video, you'll instantly see why so many aircraft were kept on the ground!
A man was waiting for his flight to begin loading, but because of the thunderstorm there were severe delays. Looking out the window at the fierce storm he decided to take a quick video to send to his wife. As he began to film the lineup of aircraft waiting for the go-ahead to take off, he suddenly saw a bright flash of light accompanied nearly instantly with the loud clash of thunder.
Unaware that the lightning struck the plane, it wasn't until he watched the cool footage again that he realize what had actually happened. It turned out that the bolt of shocking electricity jumped through the fuselage of the plane and messed with the electronics a bit.
Amazingly, in spite of the thousands of volts of electricity coursing through the plane, no one aboard was injured, they certainly got a decent scare! Thank goodness the plane was safe on the ground though!
While no one was hurt, they still decided to take the plane back in just to make sure nothing was damaged. What would you do if your plane was struck by lighting? Let us know in the comments below!
