In the video below, a dad named Mikki just left the toy store with his two young boys — where his older son picked out a Little Mermaid Barbie doll. Before heading home, Mikki turns on the camera to share a heartwarming message about acceptance, and it's quickly going viral.
Rather than put down or mock his son's choice of toy, Dad celebrates it. "Azai is equally fascinated by princesses and robots. One moment he's all boy, the next he's expressing a softer, more angelic side. For me this behavior rings more authentic than playing one note all the time."
We love how Mikki encourages his kids to choose their likes and dislikes — and how the internet is flooding the video with such kind, positive comments from people all over the world. "My job as daddy is to provide a safe playing field for my boys to play whatever game they choose, or better yet, create their own game! I trust that by the time they realize the world isn't as accepting as mommy and daddy they'll have such a solid foundation that nothing will shake their stance to fully, and unabashedly be themselves," Mikki writes on YouTube.
