One of my dreams is to extensively travel and live on the road. I would love nothing more than to live comfortably in a home tailored to my needs and wants.
And when it comes to mobile homes and RVs, I've always looked to those who have masterfully designed and built fantastic on-the-road homes. To me, the ability to eat and sleep on the go for months at a time is mind-boggling — and enticing.
But there's one unique home that I've eyed for a while. Its design is absolutely utilitarian, with a simply beautiful, rustic aesthetic.
The owners have used the mobile home to travel across the country, around South America, and are planning for bigger, farther trips for the future.
And though their tiny home is quite unconventional, it has traveled thousands of miles, and stood steady against all types of tricky terrain.

John Ericson, 75, has spent his life building unique homes. So far, the Minnesota native has designed and built 12 mobile residences. He currently travels in a converted Mitsubishi Fuso truck.
He and his wife have been "living on the road" for the past 35 years, and started doing so a few years before he quit his construction job to travel the world.
Currently, the family has two mobile homes parked in Homer, AK. Their caravan, dubbed the "Adventure House Truck," is their primary mode of transportation and adventure.
The travel truck was built around five years ago in Arizona. It took John only four weeks to complete construction.
The interior has plenty of storage space, in the form of overhead compartments and pull-out bins. It also has a full kitchen, a handmade faucet, and a complete fridge.
The truck also has two water tanks, an outdoor shower, propane appliances, and solar panels. It's perfect for exploring new and unfamiliar territory!
The adventurous couple has been able to travel far and wide thanks to their innovation.
When they're not exploring the world, they can be found in their more permanent RV, built from the remains of a 1996 Holiday Rambler. John used wooden shingles and carvings to give it an intricate look.
But the couple doesn't like to stay tied down for long. The two just completed a trip to South America, and soon they'll be on their way to Russia!
