‘X Factor’ Contestant Overcomes His Self-Doubt With Incredible Audition

Anton Stephans has been a backup singer for years having worked with some big names, including the legendary Tina Turner. At 45, he decided it was time to come to the forefront and audition for the X Factor U.K.

But, like many artists, he has always struggled to recognize his own talent.

"I never thought I was good enough to be the number one person. I wanted to be, but that takes courage and I don't believe in myself enough," he said.

Yet, when he took the stage to sing Jennifer Hudson's "I Am Changing," it was hard to believe that he lacked self-confidence. Stephans, who brought his adorable dog to the audition, received an overwhelming amount of praise, much like the 17-year-old who overcame her nerves and left the judges in awe.

"You've took this initiative to make your own decision and you nailed that performance," judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini told Stephans, also pointing out that the audience was just as impressed.

And while the performance didn't make Cowell break down in tears, like the one from 21-year-old Josh Daniel, it encouraged him to say some flattering words. Just wait till you hear what he tells the humble contestant at 6:55 – it's so heartwarming!

Please SHARE this marvelous performance to encourage others to believe in themselves!
