Beyoncé Was Just 12 Years Old When She First Made Waves With Her Incredible Voice

There are a ton of incredible musicians in the world, but very few ever make it to the top of the industry. Of those who do, almost nobody becomes a real, bonafide pop star.

And of that very, very tiny number of successful pop stars? There is only one Beyoncé.

She is arguably the biggest and most influential name in pop music today, and global media hangs breathlessly on her every word, action, and adorable surprise performance of "Halo.” But, like most of us, Queen B wasn’t born famous.

Before she was the majestic pop diva that she is today, Beyoncé rose to fame at the tender age of 16, as the lead singer of  Destiny’s Child. What I didn’t know is that she was already making inroads into the music industry long before that, with her original girl group.

Much like fellow celeb Ryan Gosling, who rose to fame thanks to the Mickey Mouse Club and a pair of very shiny hammer pants, Beyoncé got her start on television. Specifically, she appeared on the insanely popular program Star Search when she was just 12 years old.

This was 1993, and little Yonce was the frontwoman for a group described by host Ed McMahon as, “the hip-hop rappin’ Girls Tyme.” Yes, there will be some cheesy rap lyrics, not to mention hilarious '90s fashion, but the real star of this performance is, of course, Beyoncé. Even as a preteen, she was totally on it!

Were you blown away by how talented this superstar was, even as a kid? Please SHARE for everyone who loved Beyoncé then, and loves her just as much now!
