One of the benefits of getting older, I think, is that you are permitted to speak your mind a little more than you could when you were younger.
In their later years, I certainly remember my grandparents hilariously dropping any kind of filter they had previously had — like these grandparents who try to use a webcam for the first time.
So when I read this funny story of one grandmother who made a shocking confession to her granddaughter, I knew I had to share it.
This story has been retold in joke books and all over the internet for almost a decade. In it, when a young woman hears that her grandfather has passed away, she rushes over to comfort her grandmother.
But when her grandmother explains exactly how he died, I actually laughed out loud. Like my grandparents, she also seems to have lost her filter over the years. I love a good surprise ending, and this one certainly delivers.

Upon hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Katie went straight to her grandparents' house to visit her 95-year-old grandmother and comfort her.
When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, "He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning."
Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that two people nearly 100-years-old having sex would surely be asking for trouble.
"Oh no, my dear," replied Granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong…"
She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued, "He'd still be alive if the ice cream truck hadn't come along."
This grandmother's hilarious confession definitely had me laughing out loud.
