It's no secret that those teetering, towering heels can sometimes cause you more headache than you bargained for. A night out can quickly turn sour when the pain of a new stiletto heel starts to creep in.
As evidence, look no further than a recent viral video of a bro who tried to prove that all the hubbub was for nothing — before finding himself sorely mistaken after just a single day of wear. (Serves him right.)
And BuzzFeed has the facts to back it up, too. In their video below, they break down some little known factoids about the favored footwear of ladies' formal attire — and guess what? They may not be all that great for you.
Perhaps the most unfortunate fact, every inch of your heel height puts additional stress on the ball of the foot (creating pain in more than just your feet>); one inch creates 22 percent more pressure than when wearing flats, and three inches puts a staggering 76 percent more pressure on the ball of your foot. The effects of that pressure? Corns, calluses, tendinitis, stress fractures, and more.
So while heels on occasion aren't so bad, you may want to rethink the frequency with which you wear those falls boots you've been holding out on.
