A student was punished and given "in school suspension" for wearing an American flag T-shirt to his high school. Jaegur, a high school junior, does his very best to follow the rules. He's incredibly interested in the ROTC and has full intent to eventually join the military when he's old enough.
However, Jaegur and his mother, Shelly, were worried that a recent black mark on his record could possibly hurt his future dreams. His crime? Wearing a T-shirt that has the American flag on it. Just like the student who got in trouble for sporting Old Glory on his truck, Jaegur was told the American flag just didn't fit the school's dress code.
The school has no official uniform, but their dress code requires that students wear solid-color shirts. However, multi-colored shirts that support certain colleges are allowed, as well as ones in support of the military.
But when a teacher saw Jaegur wearing a gray shirt with the American flag on it? He was sent off to the principal's office! Shelly realized how ridiculous the punishment was and decided to push back against it. A lot of men and women died for that flag, so Shelly and Jaegur were a bit confused as to why it wasn't allowed in school.
Getting some support from the local media, it was finally admitted that the American flag can be worn in school and the principal admitted to the mistake and apologized. “The fact that acknowledging it is huge… They're willing to stand by and see mistakes and grow from them, that means a lot,” said the vindicated mother. Thank goodness she fought this punishment and helped her son show off his pride in the greatest country in the world!
