Tesla’s Autopilot System Will Completely Blow Your Mind

If you've ever dreamed of having a chauffeur, you might now want to opt for a Tesla instead.

The electric car maker has installed a new update on its Model S that pretty much allows you to drive hands and pedal-free.

Oh, and it gets better, much better. (This is even better than the color-changing Lamborghini!) The Tesla Version 7.0 software allows the car to change lanes on its own once the turn signal is. It can also parallel park itself in the parking spot that it found for you. (That sounds like the perfect way to avoid an expensive collision.) Almost too good to be true, I know.

"We're building Autopilot to give you more confidence behind the wheel, increase your safety on the road, and make highway driving more enjoyable," the company said in a press release. "While truly driverless cars are still a few years away, Tesla Autopilot functions like the systems that airplane pilots use when conditions are clear. The driver is still responsible for, and ultimately in control of, the car. What's more, you always have intuitive access to the information your car is using to inform its actions."

If you don't believe it, just watch as Jalopnik took the Tesla Model S Level 2 for a test run below. As they describe it, the experience is "creepy and wonderful."

“Oh my gosh, the car knows exactly where the person ahead of me is in the lane because I can see it here on the dash,” the test driver says. “That was interesting.”
