A group of friends and family members were sailing off the gulf of Naples in Italy when they suddenly began to hear frightened squeaks coming from the waves up ahead.
Utterly confused, they began to search the surrounding water to see just where and what the sounds were. As the squeaks began to grow louder and louder, it seemed as if something straight ahead was swimming toward them.
As one of the sailors climbed onto the bow to get a better look, he seemed completely taken aback when he realized just what it was he was looking at: a dog!
The frightened labrador was paddling as well as he could, and even though he was at least a few miles out from dry land, he still seemed to be trying his best to stay afloat. Just like the kittens that swam straight for a fisherman for safety, this poor pooch swam straight for the boat in an act of desperation.
It turns out that the dog had fallen from another boat in the distance, and while the couple had begged their captain to turn around, he refused! It seems like some people just don't care about dogs like we do!
Thankfully, after a bit of a struggle to get the right position to take the waterlogged dog onboard, they finally managed to pull him up by the scruff of his neck and give him the love and affection he so badly needed.
We especially love how the woman's first response once he's safe is to give him a big kiss on the head. Even though she didn't know this puppy, it was love at first sight!
