That's because Jackie has no pleasant childhood memories to share. She grew up being beaten, neglected, and starved. While Jackie has grown into a successful college student with straight A's, good friends, and a part-time job, there's one time of year that's always particularly difficult — the holiday season.
Because Jackie has no family and never did, she decided to raise her spirits during the holidays by hiring a set of parents on Craigslist. It sounds crazy, but Jackie was so tired of the pain and hurting that she was willing to pay a couple of kindhearted strangers just to sit down with her for a few hours.
Before she knew it, Jackie was flooded with messages — not only from people willing to spend the holidays with her for free, but also from lonely-hearted people in her community who felt just like Jackie did. And instead of putting her own needs first and ignoring the latter group of people, Jackie organized a meeting with everyone who contacted her, bringing together the needy with the needed.
