This is the story of two baby girls who were brought to their parents in two very unique ways. Having children was always a priority for Anita and Blake, but they knew they'd have to find a way to create an alternative. When she was 21 years old, doctors told Anita she wouldn't be able to bear children of her own — but being a parent was her lifelong goal, so it was time for her and Blake to get creative after seven years of marriage.
In just one year, Anita became a mother of two: one baby was adopted, and the other was born via surrogate. And get this: Anita and Blake were once only casual Facebook friends with Shelby and Jeff, the same couple who would eventually put their own lives aside to give their virtual friends the second baby of their dreams via surrogacy.
Aside from the financial strain, Anita's second baby was met with resistance from her church, since the Catholic church doesn't approve of surrogacy. Anita kept her faith alive by looking to friends and family for support.
When they're older, Anita plans to tell Kaitlyn and Jillian just how special they are and how their blended family came to be. "Different women gave us amazing gifts and helped us become parents, and I think that's exactly how I'll explain it to them," she says.
