For centuries, people have been trying to find new and easy ways to spice up their love lives.
People have tried medications, therapies, oils, and a million other things to improve their time in the bedroom. But I was quite surprised to hear that it doesn't have to be so complicated.
Just as there are foods that aid with digestion, there are also foods that can spice up your sex life.
LittleThings spoke to vitamin and supplement expert Hallie Rich and certified dietician nutritionist Ilyse Schapiro about the effect that food can have on your love life.
These co-authors of the upcoming book Should I Scoop Out My Bagel? gave us an exclusive look at exactly which foods are great for your sex drive — and which foods should be avoided at all costs.
According to Rich and Schapiro, "Food has a lot to do with a person's sex drive. Not only can it impact how you look and how you feel, but it can also impact how you behave."
They continued, "Certain foods can positively affect your libido and give you the proper energy to help keep your stamina going. On the other hand, certain foods can leave you feeling gross, full or bloated, or give you gas, and these may make you less comfortable being naked."
Scroll through below to see exactly which foods you should try and which you should avoid in order to spice up your love life!
DO Eat: Oysters
Probably the most famous of aphrodisiacs, oysters are a food that you definitely should eat to improve your love life.
Experts Hallie Rich and Ilyse Schapiro told LittleThings, "This well-known aphrodisiac has earned this reputation due to its high level of zinc. This nutrient is very important for both men and women when it comes to their sex drive, as it plays a vital role in both testosterone and estrogen."
DO Eat: Watermelon
Surprisingly, watermelon is great food to eat when trying to spice up your love life.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "Recently referred to as 'natural Viagra,' watermelon is high in citrulline, which can help with blood flow and dilation. As it’s also high in water content, it can help keep you hydrated."
DO Eat: Avocados
Avocados are a must when it comes to your love life dieting.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "The many nutrients in avocados can help both him and her as it relates to the heart pumping, hormones producing, and the blood flowing in the areas that matter."
DO Eat: Sesame Seeds
While it might seem surprising, a handful of sesame seeds can definitely help to increase your libido.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "Also high in zinc, sesame seeds can help with sex drive, fertility and male potency."
DO Eat: Almonds
Snacking on almonds is another great way to improve your love life.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings that almonds "are high in zinc, vitamin E, and selenium, which can all help enhance libido. The good fats in almonds will also help keep you satiated and blood sugar stable so you will have the energy to get through a great romp."
DO Eat: Strawberries
Who doesn't love strawberries? And it seems that they may just help you love each other as well.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "High in zinc, vitamin C, and potassium, this fruit can help enhance a night of passion. Dip them in chocolate as they contain chemicals associated with pleasure and being in love."
DO Eat: Ginger
Ginger can be found in many forms including tea and candy. This root is a great way to spice things up in the love department.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "The nutrients found in ginger play a role in sperm production, sex drive, blood flow and circulation."
DO Eat: Saffron
If you can't tell by the picture, this is saffron. Saffron is a spice that can truly help out in the bedroom.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "This spice plays an important role in arousal, sex drive and desire due to being high in certain antioxidants."

DON'T Drink: Alcohol
It probably won't come as a huge surprise that alcohol isn't always the best when it comes to your love life.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "While some people feel like they need alcohol to get in the mood or lose their inhibitions, it can actually be a deterrent, leaving you (and potentially some of his important parts) sleepy."
DON'T Eat: Fast Food
As I'm sure you can guess, a greasy, heavy meal isn't really the best way to get into the mood.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "Trans fats, commonly found in fast food, have been reported to decrease blood flow and lower libido."
DON'T Eat: Microwave Popcorn
Even though date night quite often involves popcorn, it is actually not a great food for fueling your libido.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "Salty foods, like microwave popcorn, should be kept to a minimum as they can inhibit blood flow. There is also some cause for concern due to the fact that the bag itself may contain a chemical that can interfere with sex drive, male infertility and testicular health."
DON'T Eat: Mint
It might be sweet, but mint isn't a good idea when you are trying to enhance your love life.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "The menthol in mint has been reported to lower testosterone, which is needed for a healthy sex life."
DON'T Eat: Soy
These little soy beans can be found in a wide variety of dishes. Soy should be avoided if you are trying to focus on the bedroom, especially for men.
Rich and Schapiro told LittleThings, "If you eat a ton of soy, it can decrease your testosterone and sperm count."
Knowing which foods to eat and which to avoid can truly turn things around in the love department.
