When I think of wild animals, my brain tends to jump immediately to Judy Garland saying, “Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!”
But while all of these animals have been known to get up to shenanigans from time to time — and sometimes all together — there are plenty of other goofy wild critters that don’t get the fame and attention that they rightfully deserve!
For example, you hardly ever see porcupines making the news, but did you know that these little creatures, who are often considered pests, are actually very smart, and, in at least one case, top-notch at interpreting football statistics!
In fact, despite their prickly reputation, porcupines are actually very mellow animals. Though they’re feared for their sharp quills, they only use them in self-defense. The rest of the time, they’re solitary, tree-dwelling vegetarians.
But it turns out that not every porcupine is perfectly suited for solitary living. The exception to that rule is a porcupine named Snickers, who lives in a conservation center in Alaska.
While it’s never a good idea to approach or startle a wild porcupine (those quills aren’t just for decoration), Snickers has been raised by humans since he was just a tiny baby. As a result of all that early socialization, he just adores people! Check out this cutie-pie in action in the video below.
And if you loved this goofy, affectionate porcupine, please SHARE on Facebook for everyone who loves to watch animals at their silliest behavior!
