Firefighters Bond With Baby Girl Surrendered To Them In March

Little Naomi lives happily with her adoptive parents now, but when she first came into the world, she had a bit of a rough start.

Born to a mother in her twenties in March, she was safely surrendered at an Orange County fire station. According to the firefighters, the mother had a hard time giving up the precious baby before finally making the decision to leave her. But at that moment, when baby Naomi was left with the firefighters, she gained a family.

Her safe surrender was the first and only one of the year thus far in Orange County.

Now, the firefighters reflect on that experience with the infant, then only a couple of hours old, some calling it the "highlight" of their careers.

They attended Naomi's November adoption ceremony, when Krysten and Kurt Snyder decided to take her in. It was an emotional moment and heartwarming ceremony for the firemen, who didn't know what would happen to the baby in the foster care system.

Engineer Michael DeLeon tells CBSLA, "I mean, going to that ceremony and getting to see her again ‘cause you know when it happens, you don’t know what’s going to happen to the baby, really.”

Now, the 9-month-old baby doesn't just have am adoptive family, but a whole firefighter crew who will be by her side!
