It's that time of year again — your Facebook feed is packed with friends getting engaged around the Christmas holiday, posting photos of engagement rings and home videos of the moment she said "Yes." Just yesterday, one of my friends popped the question to his girlfriend, and we're just short of 10 days away from Christmas!
For most of these happy couples, it doesn't matter when the engagement happens — the day is special regardless of the season or holiday. But Allison Buck had some stipulations for when her firefighter boyfriend, Daniel Craven, could propose.
The two knew they would be getting engaged after almost four years together, but Allison wanted their engagement to have its own day, and not coincide with any other celebration. She didn't want him to propose on any birthday or holiday, she wanted her family to witness the proposal, and she wanted pictures and video taken of the moment.
Perfect for the occasion, Daniel chose the Asheboro Christmas Parade in which he would be appearing on his truck, and during which he would ask Allison to marry him, satisfying all of her requirements for the perfect proposal!
Even her mom was in on the surprise, purchasing a Christmas tree ornament shaped like a diamond ring — something Allison wanted but that her mom said she couldn't have because she wasn't engaged yet! But the crafty mom bought it the same day, already planning the surprise proposal with Daniel.
What a fitting proposal, considering the couple's first date lasted a whopping 13 hours!
