Ex-Convict Thanks Mystery Cop Who Helped Him Find A Job

James Roberts made a huge mistake. The ex-convict has been struggling for years to find a new job. Thanks to a program called America Works, he got a good lead and even scored an interview. When the day came, he got to his job interview with time to spare, the only problem was he went to the wrong location. The job was for rental car companies near the airport, so Robert went to the airport, not realizing their hiring offices were six miles away.

When he realized what he had done, Roberts' heart was broken. He began to cry, that's when an officer approached him and asked him what was wrong.

“I said ‘I don’t care, I need this job, I’ll walk there.’ He said, ‘What time you gotta be there?’ I said, ‘I gotta be there by 1. He said ‘You’ll never make it, get in the car,'” Roberts told CBS' Alice Gainer. The officer gave James a ride in his car. As for the job? Well, he got it and the officer played a big role in that.

“Part of the reason he got that job is just they were so impressed with seeing a police officer do that for him,” said Dr. Lee Bowes, the CEO of America Works. All Roberts wants is to get his story out there so he can find the mystery cop and show the world what the kind man did for him.

“Last thing he said to me was good luck and God bless you. I said, ‘I owe you lunch,'” Roberts said.
