Elvis Presley Serenades A Puppet With ‘Wooden Heart’ In 1960’s ‘G.I. Blues’

We all know Elvis Presley was a man of many, many talents. Not only did he change the face of rock 'n' roll forever with hit songs and his swinging hips, he also starred in hit films that drove teens and adults alike to the box office. Of course, he always took a moment to sing a song or two while on screen. It would have been pretty disappointing if he didn't use that gorgeous voice of his for more than just his lines!

In G.I. Blues from 1960, Presley puts on the familiar military uniform to portray Tulsa McLean: a specialist with the Army who's stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, but has dreams of opening up his own night club back home. While on the base, he and a buddy have a friendly bet about the beautiful local cabaret singer, Lili. The songstress has a reputation for being quite hard to get, so the young men decide to put it to the test.

Presley's character eventually falls for Lili in earnest and tries to back out of the ungentlemanly wager, but not before he has plenty of adorable moments with her like this one. While on a stroll, they find themselves amongst a much younger audience waiting for a puppet show. The old man running the play hits a snag when the recorded song goes awry. Obviously, it's the perfect opportunity for Presley to step up and sing the tune himself.

The female puppet sticks around for the performance and even gets a little jealous when she can tell Presley only has eyes for Lili. Watch until the very end to see how her male puppet pal reacts!
