After Shane Gillis delivered a Saturday Night Life monologue full of controversial bits about gyms and women’s bodies, that wasn’t the end of it. Because now he has inadvertently drawn Travis Kelce into his orbit of backlash after the former Chiefs player liked a social media comment on a post SNL made from Shane’s October 2026 episode.
Afterward, people spotted Travis’ ‘KillaTrav’ Instagram name under the SNL post and called him out for it. Some people were shocked that Taylor Swift’s husband would like a post from an episode that saw Shane get tons of hate online for his jokes about women. Others came to Travis’ defense to claim that he probably liked the post without even watching the clip. Which is worse, though?
Shane Gillis’ ‘SNL’ monologue received tons of hate.
During Shane’s monologue during his third time hosting SNL, he made jokes at his own expense about going to the gym and being behind in gym culture at his age. So far so good, right? Well, yes, right, but it’s about to get oh so very wrong. Because he also joked about the clothes he saw women wear to the gym and said that women who wear short neon shorts are dressed like “whores.”
That might have flown in the early 2000s, or even if Shane had made jokes about men too. But instead, Shane continued with his jokes and then humble bragged about working out at bestie Joe Rigan’s private gym in texas. And much of this was not well-received on social media. So when Travis inadvertently chimed in, he immediately got a target on his back.
Travis Kelce was called out for liking a post about the ‘SNL’ episode.

The post SNL made on Instagram was to show a snippet of Shane’s monologue, which also acted as a sort of mini standup routine. That’s typically the case for hosts, but for Shane, it seemed to be all about bits and his take on getting older and judging women’s bodies and the clothes they choose to wear.
A user on TikTok spotted Travis’ name under the SNL Instagram post and took a screenshot. When the user shared it in a video on the platform, people commented to share their disappointment in Travis.
“Not shocking at all once you’ve seen his old tweets,” one person commented.
Someone else took it a step further and wrote, “Taylor thinks she is an exception to a bigot because she’s a privileged white woman. But she’s still prey because ppl who hold derogatory beliefs are hierarchical and aggressive, and she is going to have the receiving end of that behaviour unfortunately.”
In a Reddit post about Travis’ Instagram like, others joined in to call out Travis even further.
“Hurry everyone screenshot it before Taylor’s PR team sends the bots to scrub and defend,” a Redditor commented.
Another wrote, “Taylor, is this your king?? Come get your man girl.”
Some of Travis Kelce’s fans came to his defense.
Under the same Reddit post, users claimed that some of Travis’ fans tried to defend him on social media and say that he liked the SNL post without actually seeing the episode or hearing Shane’s jokes in his monologue. But others wouldn’t let that theory slide.
“Why are some people making excuses for him? He is a grown man,” one person pointed out, about Travis. “He has tweeted some pretty misogynistic stuff in the past, he’s always been like this. Ps: both men are disgusting. Insane they feel safe to say stuff like this.”
And, someone else added, “People excusing a grown man’s actions by saying that he’s stupid or didn’t know better is all just another variation of ‘boys will be boys.’ He’s smart enough to know what misogyny is and he’s privileged enough to not care unless it affects him. Liking the monolog even goes beyond that since it’s him approving of it.”
