Roseanne Barr Says She ‘Wrote Extra Scenes’ So She Could Make Out With Her Co-Star More Often

Roseanne Barr has shared some details about the project she’s been working on after the 2018 cancelation of Roseanne. The 73-year-old has been working on a self-financed sitcom called Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable.

Given that she financed the project herself, created it, and stars in it, she obviously had a lot of creative control. So, when working on the scenes involving her on-screen husband (portrayed by Randy Quaid), she took some creative liberties.

She said she really loved making out with Randy.

So, she did her best to make it happen more often, she revealed during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. When asked what Randy is like in real life, Roseanne made it sound like she’s quite infatuated with him.

“I enjoyed making out with him so much that I wrote extra scenes where we would make out,” she told the publication. Randy is, notably, married. And Roseanne is definitely aware. “I’m in love with him and I wish he would leave his wife and marry me,” she said.

Her former TV husband, however, did not seem interested in participating in this project.

John Goodman, who played Roseanne’s husband, Dan Conner, on Roseanne, does not have any type of role in Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable. And, according to Roseanne, it’s not because she didn’t want him to be involved.

During the same interview, Roseanne revealed that her son contacted John and asked him about appearing on the show, but he said no. She also said that she doesn’t get along with her former co-stars, but suggested that the fact that she’s not in contact with them is not something that she really chose. She even told the publication that she previously thought her co-stars were like family.

“My son called Goodman and asked him to do a cameo on Meemaw and he declined,” she revealed.

Her relationship with her former TV son also came up during the conversation.

Roseanne’s falling out with Michael Fishman has definitely been more visible to the general public. Michael, who portrayed D.J. Conner on Roseanne, recently spoke out against Roseanne’s racist post that ultimately led to the show being canceled in 2018. He said the show was “rightfully canceled” in this case and explained why.

“Dehumanizing people is never a joke,” he said. “See, when we’re on stage as comedians or on camera, we have the freedom to say whatever we want. But that doesn’t mean there’s no responsibility and no consequences. And the brilliant comedians help us laugh at the darkest, darkest topics. So, sadly, in this case, there was no joke. And the show was rightfully canceled.”

Roseanne did not take this well. She called Michael a “brainwashed bigot” and claimed that he “doesn’t even f—ing know what I said.”

In his video, Michael said that he would “always have compassion and love” for Roseanne. Meanwhile, she said she tried to talk to him about the situation, only to feel like he didn’t understand her.

“I told him, ‘Let me explain this to you, Michael. Go and f— yourself and stay f—ed until the day you die. Don’t f—ing put my name in your f—ing mouth. Shut the f— up,'” she said.

When asked about this very public disagreement by The Hollywood Reporter, Roseanne said, “Nobody is more brokenhearted than me. I just choose to remember the fun and the good times.”
