9 Wonderful Habits From The Past That Just Don’t Exist Anymore…We Ought To Bring Them Back!!

Ready for some nostalgia?

When you think about the 60s and 70s, what's the stuff you miss the most? Is there anything you just SO WISH you could bring back? Too often, I realize our grandparents had real-life skills that kids today aren't learning. We should have faith in our favorite traditions. Here are just a few elements of the good old days that I wish we'd incorporate today.

What do you think is most important from this list? Are there any elements I missed? Sound off in the COMMENTS – and don't forget to SHARE this happy little trip down memory lane with all of your friends!

#1. Classy, matching coordinates for women.

There was something so spectacular about a monochromatic pantsuit set. I'm not an advocate of women ONLY wearing dresses – I think pants are just fine – but I miss the matching coordinates of yesterday.

#2. Sexy didn't mean showing all of your skin...

I'm not just talking swimwear! Modesty wasn't look at as drab – it was looked at as CLASSY. Big difference.

#3. Kids were taught to court...not "hook up."

Teens went out on dates rather than in large groups. While this may feel like they're going up too quickly, it also taught them the basics of courtship, which is vitally important when it comes to finding a long-term relationship.

#4. Calling people on the phone!!!

Gosh, how I miss hour long chats with my friends. Text message exchanges are very convenient when it comes to making plans, but there's an intimacy with a long phone call that you just don't get from text. I also love to tell stories, and that extra element of hearing a person's voice makes it oh-so-much better.

#5. Dressing up when you went in public, even for TRAVEL...have you been to an airport lately?? Yech.

I know pajama pants are comfy, but why do people think it's alright to wear them everywhere? Your underpants hang out and you look like a slob. Put on some clothes and I bet you'll feel better about yourself.

#6. Frankfurters, fondue, and hostess trays...In other words, a good old fashioned DINNER party.

Going out to dinner is nice, but whatever happened to good old hospitality? And fondue. What happened to fondue? I really love melted cheese. And those little hot dogs…it must be close to dinner time.

#7. Actual DANCES. With steps! Much less awkward that way.

…and men knew how to dance!! It's been a long time since I've seen a gent who knew how to get down on the dance floor, with the exception of on the X-factor but that doesn't really count.

#8. Home cooking! Before take-out culture, dinner was whatever mom whipped up. I'm shocked to hear that fewer people than ever cook these days because it's so inexpensive to eat take-out all the time.

My mom made a mean lasagna, and now I do too. We should be teaching our daughters AND our sons how to cook. Take-out is full of sodium and other nasty stuff they needn't be eating.

#9. Craft skills! Sewing! Making your very own clothes to suit your personal style.

Have you ever gone to the store looking for a new version of your favorite skirt and not finding it because styles have changed? That wasn't a problem for our grandmas! They could just whip up a new one. I miss the days of going to the store and shopping not only for a pattern but for a favorite fabric to craft my own clothes. Call me crazy, I know it was a lot of work…but there's something special about being able to make something for yourself, exactly how you like it!
