This Mountain Seems To Be On Fire, But Don’t Worry…It’s Much Better Than That!

It may look like the Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland is on fire – but it's not. It's much better than that, I promise.

Mammut Key Visual staged an intricate light display along the trail that the very first climbers walked to ascend the Matterhorn to commemorate the 150 anniversary of the epic event. Enjoy these incredible photos of their geometric ascent followed by their awesome light show. Be sure to scroll to the end of the post to watch a video of how they managed to take these photos in spite of the uncooperative weather.

Please SHARE this beautiful tribute to the first hikers of the Matterhorn with all of your friends!

"At dawn we want to illuminate the first ascent of the Matterhorn with lights on the Hoernli ridge," said Robert Bosch, the photographer.

David Fasel was one of the premier athletes who volunteered to go on the epic hike.

"The guys who did the first ascent 150 years ago were pretty crazy," says David.

Not only was their route incredibly treacherous...

...but they also didn't have access to modern fabrics and equipment to help them sleep comfortably, stay warm...and stay alive, basically!

If it got cold or they were sweating and then their sweat froze, they would often freeze to death.

Needless to say, the journey to light the pathway is NOT one for the faint of heart.

A stunning view, but would you dare?
