Amy Schumer Posts Sweet Video Of Her And Son Gene Waving To Her Dad From Outside Nursing Home

Social distancing has been so hard for so many people — especially families who are close and used to seeing one another often. That much seems true for Amy Schumer, who has a close relationship with her father, Gordon. Amy's dad suffers from multiple sclerosis, which means that right now, he needs to use extra precautions. He can't come out in public. He also has to keep his distance from daughter Amy and his grandson, Gene.

Amy is doing the best she can with a tough situation, though. She recently showed her followers how she's trying to stay connected with her dad during social distancing. She posted an adorable video on Instagram that showed her with Gene on her hip and a sign in her hand, waving to her dad from outside of his nursing home building. The sign reads, "HI GRANDPA. WE LOVE YOU!"

It's incredibly sweet but also really heart-wrenching when you think about how tough it must be for so many grandparents to not be able to hold their grandbabies right now.

It's easy to love Amy Schumer. She's an incredibly talented comedian and actress who never fails to make us laugh. But she is also an open book. She shares so much through her social media outlets that helps her connect with fans but also share what's important to her.

Wild route

In recent weeks, Amy has been helping us all stay sane with her posts. She has posted adorable videos of her son, Gene, as they cozy up inside and spend time together as a family. She recently shared a hilarious video of him cruising over bins of books to keep himself entertained. Amy captioned it "wild route."

However, Amy also always makes sure to talk about important matters on her Instagram page, as well. In a recent post, she gave a shout-out to doctors and nurses. She captured New Yorkers applauding hospital workers from their windows. She wrote, "Monday 7pm is when most hospitals change shifts. That’s why. We love you heroes."

Anyone else at this moment?

We've long known that Amy has a close relationship with her father and her sister. She shares pictures of her dad often on her page. The two do a lot together, and it seems he's very close to his grandson now, too.

Social distancing is kind of the great equalizer, though. It affects everyone, even celebrities. We're sure it's tough for Amy to not be able to pop in and see her dad, though. And chances are, it's extra hard for him to stay away from her and his grandchild, too.

This is who I am now

Amy seems to be doing her best at staying sane, though. While these times are tough for absolutely everyone, she keeps bringing the jokes. Honestly, we've never been more thankful for it. If we can't find some spots of humor in our day, then we're really in trouble.

When looking for silver linings right now, we can focus on what we have time for. Now Amy has a bit more time to post on her new YouTube channel. She and her husband started it to post parenting advice, though most of it is pretty humorous.

During difficult times, it's so important that we have comedians who are sharing funny stuff, as well as the important stuff. Social media is helping us all to stay much more connected. Amy is playing a huge part in that.

Remember how this feels

Looking at her posts makes us realize that we aren't alone in this. We're all going through many of the same challenges right now. Whether it's not being able to see someone we love or being stuck in a house with energetic kids, there are a lot of challenges going on that we can't deny.

Still, there's something beautiful about knowing that we're all going through this together and we will get through it together, too. We're so glad Amy keeps posting to let us know she's right there with us. And we can't wait until she gets to see her dad again from the other side of that window.
