12 Iconic Celebrity Family Feuds That Really Prove Even The Most Famous Families Have Problems

Fans who follow celebrities intently sometimes get caught up in thinking they have it all. Every now and then, a celebrity family goes through something so shocking that you remember they're just human.

Divorces, secret children, and other issues aren't just the things of soap operas. In these famous families, they were real moments that had to be dealt with while the public watched. While we get some pleasure out of gossip, it should also serve as a reality check.

No family is perfect. Money and fame can't change that. That's not to say it doesn't provide ample ways to ease the pain, but raw human emotion is what it is, no matter who is going through it.

With a never-ending news cycle, it's easy for these stories to fall through the cracks. We're so inundated with information that we can't remember what happened last week, let alone in the last decade. If you need a refresher on celebrity families that have been through the wringer, here are some of the wildest celebrity family feuds of all time.

The Duggar Family

Things with the Duggar family never quite recovered after 2015, when reports surfaced that oldest son Josh Duggar had molested five girls, including four of his own sisters. The scandal almost led to the end of the Duggar dynasty on TLC. Their show 19 Kids and Counting turned into Jill & Jessa: Counting On, which eventually became just Counting On.

Jill and husband Derick Dillard stopped participating in Counting On in 2017. Derick's feud with the family has heated up in the time since. He's leveled some serious allegations at patriarch Jim Bob.

Derick has said that Jim Bob forced Jill and Jessa to do a difficult-to-watch interview with Megyn Kelly about their brother's molestation, downplaying the incidents. He also claims that Jim Bob is still in control of all the money the family makes from TLC and that his kids aren't compensated for their involvement.

This feud is ongoing. From the looks of it, it's going to stay that way.

The Kardashian-Jenner Family

The family that works hard and loves harder has been through a lot. It began when the world was rocked by news of Kris and Bruce Jenner's separation in 2013. The next year, Bruce came out as a trans woman and became Caitlyn Jenner. Caitlyn has maintained that the marriage did not fall apart because of trans issues.

There was definite friction between several members of the Kardashian-Jenner family in the aftermath, however. Brody Jenner, one of four Jenner children from previous marriages, has come out with claims that he and his siblings were never close to the Kardashians and felt animosity toward them for getting the father that the Jenner children felt they did not.

Additionally, Khloé and Caitlyn have not regained the close bond they once shared. Caitlyn believes Khloé took some sort of issue with her transition. Khloé has claimed that she wasn't given time to process the information before it was public knowledge, and that's her only issue. She was more upset by Caitlyn's attitude toward Kris and the family after the divorce.

The Knowles-Carter Family

The elevator showdown heard round the world took place after the 2014 Met Gala. Leaked surveillance footage from the night shows Jay-Z and Solange Knowles arguing as Beyoncé stands in the corner. Solange appears to hit and kick Jay in the video before security restrains her. Although the family never confessed to what provoked the incident, they issued a joint apology explaining they had moved on from the matter.

The Markle Family

Meghan Markle's fairy-tale wedding became a nightmare once her dad was involved in it. Thomas Markle's staged paparazzi photos were the beginning of a very long downhill slope between him and his daughter. The two have scarcely spoken in the two years since, and Thomas seems to leak it to the media every time Meghan gives him a chance.

The Voight-Jolie Family

Jon Voight and Angelina Jolie have been pretty public about their strained relationship. Angelina faults Jon for not being in her life much while she was growing up. When he was around, Angelina and brother James Haven have claimed Jon was a mentally abusive figure in their and their mother's lives.

In the years since Angelina's mother died, the father and daughter have mended their rift. Jon has even been an important figure in his grandchildren's lives since Angelina's split with Brad Pitt.

The Roberts Family

Eric Roberts was the first in the family to break into acting. He and sister Julia were very close until Eric developed a substance abuse problem. It was so bad that when Kelly Cunningham left her relationship with Eric, Julia funded Kelly's legal fight for custody of daughter Emma Roberts.

The two made up after Julia gave birth to twins in 2004. They aren't as close as they once were, but they've made strides in mending things.

The Schwarzenegger Family

In 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver split after 25 years of marriage. The news came out that Arnold had fathered a secret child with a former member of their household staff.

Today, Arnold has a good relationship with son Joseph Baena, who was born just five days after son Christopher was born with Maria. Joseph's half-siblings have yet to warm up to him, however.

The Hudson Family

Bill Hudson hasn't been a part of Kate Hudson's or Oliver Hudson's lives since they were small children. Bill claims Goldie Hawn began alienating him from his kids when Kurt Russell came into her life.

The feud went public in 2015 when Oliver took to Instagram with a photo of himself, Kate, and Bill. He captioned it "Happy Abandonment Day" and tagged Kate in it.

Bill responded pretty bluntly. "I say to them now, ‘I set you free,'" he told the Daily Mail.

"I had five birth children and I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own. I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life. Oliver's Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate."

The Spelling Family

Tori Spelling and mom Candy Spelling had a contentious relationship for many years. Candy and Tori first fell out when Tori left her first husband for current husband Dean McDermott. Both Tori and Candy have been critical of each other publicly. They weren't speaking when Tori's father, Aaron Spelling, died suddenly in late 2006, leaving Tori and brother Randy just $800,000 each of his $50 million fortune.

Last year, Tori announced that she and Candy had patched things up. Candy is even involved with her grandchildren again.

The Ryan Family

The rift between Meg Ryan and mom Susan Jordan dates back to the early 1990s. Susan didn't approve of Meg's then-fiancé Dennis Quaid's substance abuse. She was uninvited from their wedding, which widened the rift. She even spoke out against Meg in a tabloid, slamming her for her alleged affair with Russell Crowe. The two never reconciled.

The Lohan Family

It's quite possible that there are no two members of the Lohan family who haven't feuded publicly. Lindsay has been vocal about her issues with both her parents. She cut off father Michael Lohan in the late 2000s. While she and her mom, Dina, have been estranged at points, they are allegedly on speaking terms.

The Barrymore Family

John and Jaid Barrymore split when starlet daughter Drew was just 9 years old. Jaid put Drew in an institution at 13 years old after a suicide attempt and rarely visited. Their strained relationship never recovered. Drew admits that while she still supports her mom and keeps in contact, it's too hard for them both to be constants in each other's lives.
