It's a general thought that it's not a good idea to give money to homeless people. Most people assume they'll spend it on either drugs or alcohol. Well, Josh Paler Lin decided to do a little experiment. He wanted to see how a homeless man would spend $100, so he sought out one unsuspecting homeless man and secretly followed him the rest of the afternoon to find the real answer.
In the video, Lin approaches a homeless man and gives him the cash. He's instantly brought to tears by the amazing gift, thanking Lin over and over again for his genorosity. After a few minutes, the homeless man heads off to spend the money. Lin discreetly follows the man, who looks like he's heading to a liquor store. Lin obviously thought the man had bought booze, but in reality? He'd actually bought food — to give to other homeless people around the city!
Lin was completely shocked and moved to see the homeless man spending the money on others and decided to approach him again. He asked the poor guy why he was giving food to all these random strangers even though he's homeless and hungry.
"There are things money can't buy. I get a happiness out of what I'm doing," the homeless man responded.
Touched by this man's big heart, Lin handed him another $100. Then, he learned more about the man, who had become homeless due to bad circumstances. (He quit his job to help take care of his ill parents. After they died, their condo where he was living was sold out from under him, leaving him homeless.) God bless him! Warning: grab the tissues. You'll need some to get through this video!
