Raven-Symoné Shares Even More Photos And Details From Her Backyard Wedding With Miranda Maday

Raven-Symoné is sharing more about her special day. The 34-year-old actress shared that she and partner Miranda Maday got married on June 16. Raven shared the news with fans on Instagram two days later.

"I got married to a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home," she wrote. "I love you Mrs. Pearman-Maday! Let's tear this world a new [expletive]!!! I's married NOW."

Raven is infamously private, so it's unclear when she and Miranda became an item. Miranda works as a doula and a social media content curator. Raven came out publicly fairly recently, in 2013, when she celebrated the increased legalization of gay marriage.

Raven and Miranda opened up about their intimate, backyard wedding in a new issue of People magazine. The couple absolutely has that special newlywed glow, and we couldn't be happier for them.

Earlier this month, actress Raven-Symoné surprised fans by announcing she had gotten married. The Raven's Home star shared the news on Instagram.

"I got married to a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home. I love you Mrs. Pearman-Maday! Let's tear this world a new [expletive]!!! I's married NOW."

Raven shared more about the wedding in conversation with People magazine. "Despite being someone who has kept my personal life private, I decided to share this moment because it's one of the biggest and happiest of my life," she revealed.

The secret wedding took place in actress Debbie Allen's garden with just six guests.

"Miranda makes me feel confident and empowered in an entirely new way. We planned our ceremony together and it was a true reflection of our love and partnership," she explained.

Erica Summers officiated the intimate wedding. The meal to follow was courtesy of Debbie.

When it came to wedding attire, the couple kept it casual. "We wore hype beast outfits," Raven laughed.

"[We] had fried oysters a la Debbie Allen and our first dance was to '99 Problems' — it couldn't have been better … well, the post-[health crisis] party might be!"

Debbie was happy to arrange it for Raven, who is a longtime friend. "She was trying to keep it so simple and I said, 'Come on, you have to have something,'" Debbie said.

"She said, 'Well I just want oysters.' She loves my oysters I make for her. I made her some lobster pasta and got her a triple berry cake from Sweet Lady Jane. You only get married once … it was a joy to do that for her."

The happy couple may have been fashionably late to their wedding, arriving one hour after they had planned, but the day still went marvelously.

Miranda described the day as "perfect."

"It was joyful, intimate, filled with laughter, great food, music and a last-minute peanut butter delivery for me — all things I know my future with Raven will hold," she gushed.

"I feel so grateful to be doing life with my love!"

The couple also marked the special day with matching tattoos. "They both tattooed the letters PM on their ring fingers — representing Raven's last name, which is Pearman, and Miranda's last name, Maday," said artist Daniel Winter of Winter Stone.

"For Raven and Miranda, these tattoos were a symbol of their incredible love and partnership — it was an honor to be a part of such a special milestone for them both."

"There were maybe six people there," Debbie said looking back at the event.

"It was very intimate. They are going to plan to have a big celebration when [the health crisis] is contained enough to do that. There are so many people that want to celebrate them."

Debbie is happy that Raven has found happiness in her relationship with Miranda. "Miranda is so beautiful and so sweet," she said of Raven's other half.

"It's such a great pairing. I'm so happy for them both."

Raven has been notoriously private about her life. Her sexual orientation was long the subject of speculation. In 2012, Raven addressed rumors on Twitter.

"My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I'm datings to know. I'm not one for a public display of my life," she wrote.

The following year gay marriage saw increased legalization in the United States. Raven applauded the news and gave some insight into her orientation.

"I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you," she tweeted.

Raven sat down with Oprah in 2014. Oprah asked if Raven considered that statement her own public coming out.

"That was my way of saying I'm proud of the country," she said.

"But, I will say that I'm in an amazing, happy relationship with my partner. A woman."

Raven shared that her family encouraged her to be a private person her entire life, and she follows that to this day.

"People in my family, they've taught me to keep my personal life to myself as much as possible. So, I try my best to hold the fence where I can," she explained.

"But I am proud to be who I am and what I am."

Raven continues to explain that she knew who she was for a long time. "In that topic of dating … I knew when I was, like, 12," she said.

"I was looking at everything."

Still, Raven was reluctant to be labeled gay. "I want to be labeled 'a human who loves humans,'" she noted.
