After a tragic childhood accident left her with facial scarring, Basma Hameed endured hundreds of painful procedures to try to remove the burns — but nothing worked. Finally, after becoming a doctor, she began to look into cosmetic tattooing. After several treatments, it worked. Hameed not only transformed her own face, she decided to use her experience to help others.
Now she's transforming other women's lives by providing "para-medical tattoo treatments" to help patients hide scars and burns. In the video, Samira Omar, one of Hameeds's clients, pushes back her headscarf to reveal burn scars on her face that have left her with colorless patches where her skin was scorched with boiling water during a bullying incident. She thought she'd be scarred for life, but thanks to Hameed's tattoo treatments, she'll be able to get her natural pigments back.
