It’s Groundhog Day And Punxsutawney Phil Has Made His Prediction…

It's February 2nd, and you know what that means — the much-anticipated return of Punxsutawney Phil, the world's most famous groundhog!

A crowd gathered this Monday morning to see Phil for his annual big reveal. As the legend goes, would Phil's shadow predict six more weeks of winter, or will we be blessed with early spring weather in 2015?

The famous, furry prognosticator emerged from his burrow at Gobblers Knob in Punxsutawney, PA at around 7:25 a.m. to see his shadow, meaning six more long, cold weeks of winter.

If this morning's messy East Coast weather was any indication of what's to come, six more weeks of winter weather shouldn't have been a huge surprise…but, of course, most people were wishing for an end to the snow, rain, and cold, and dreaming of sunshine.

Since the first Groundhog Day prediction in 1887, Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow 101 times and predicted spring only 17 times! The tradition originally began as a celebration between the winter solstice and spring equinox.

Although I was really hoping for an early spring, being halfway through winter is still worth of celebration when it's been this cold lately!
