The supposed budding romance between a 27-year-old woman named Afton Elaine Burton and 80-year-old Charles Manson, the mastermind behind seven of the most horrifically gruesome murders in American history, has come to an end. It appears Burton was more interested in a moneymaking scheme than she was in her future husband, the notorious serial killer who's 53 years her senior.
The demise of their ardor occurred when Manson caught wind that Burton, who Charles had renamed “Star” during their courtship, was hoping to obtain access to his corpse after this death, so that she could stuff it and put it on display behind glass in LA. The idea was inspired by Vladimir Lenin’s mausoleum, in which his embalmed body has been on display since 1924.
When Manson found out about his girlfriend’s plans, he would not stand for it and broke off their engagement. Funny how a man who exploited others to commit murder refuses to be exploited himself.
Although the couple had already obtained a marriage license, Manson claims he had never been serious about the prospect of marriage in the first place. He claims he was stringing Burton along so that she and her friends would continue to visit and bring him toiletries and other items.
Plus, Manson believes he will never die. So the whole idea was ridiculous to begin with. Which is crazy, but some people would argue that Burton is even crazier for getting involved in this whole fiasco.
