I have an unbearably small kitchen. No, really — it's impossibly small. With only five cabinets, one drawer, and a pint-sized counter, I've had to go to some crazy extremes to make my kitchen both functional and presentable. It doesn't help that I'm a very persnickety gal, and I need to have things just so. As William Morris once said, "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
To me, that quote means no appliances on top of the cabinets, no ugly utensils on countertops, and no sticky condiment bottles or mismatched spices on display. Considering my storage issues, these strict guidelines can be a problem…
But when I saw this amazing solution, I was astonished! Why oh why didn't I think of that?! I'm not very handy with a drill, but I'd love to give this project a shot!
What about you? Could your kitchen use a little more storage space?
Please SHARE if you'd like to have a tidy, tucked-away shelf like this one!
She started off by measuring the space between her refrigerator and the wall.
She then gathered up all her supplies: lumber, wood glue, wood screws, wooden dowels, caster wheels, and a handle.
She measured and cut all the lumber into pieces, then began assembling them.
She glued the pieces in place, then joined them together with screws.
She began to build the individual shelves and backing. For your own project, the number of shelves and spacing between can be altered depending on what you wish to store.
She then drilled the holes for the wood dowels.
She didn't want the bolts for the wheels to be visible, so instead she used industrial hot glue to attach the wheels.
She tested it out before attaching the handle, as its placement depends on your height preference.
And voila! More storage space for teeny kitchens!
Doesn't that look so neat and tidy? I love how organized it is!
And it's practically invisible! Wow! I love this clever space solution!
