Barney Fife might be one of my favorite characters from any television show, and I know I'm not the only one with that opinion. In 1999, TV Guide ranked him at #9 on their list of the 50 most memorable characters on television.
Don Knotts originated the role on The Andy Griffith Show in 1960, and he played the character for five years before leaving to pursue his film career. In his time as Barney Fife, Don Knotts earned five Emmy Awards and cemented his place in television history.
