Ed Sheeran Is Reportedly Expecting His First Baby With Wife Cherry Seaborn Sometime This Summer

Ed Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, are reportedly expecting their first baby together. While the notoriously private couple have yet to confirm the news, several outlets have claimed that insider sources all say there's a baby on the way.

One friend has reportedly shared that the baby is due quite soon: "Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family. They're just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer.

"It's a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival."

Sources have also said that Cherry has taken "unlimited" time from her job as a risk manager while she focuses on starting her family. Cherry was worked for international firm Deloitte for six years.

The friend says that while Cherry has been very focused on her job, she now wants to shift her energy:

"Cherry spent last year writing a monster paper for the firm on technology and digital risk. She told bosses at the firm last summer that she planned to take extended leave at the beginning of 2020. They've given their blessing for her to have unlimited time off and pursue other projects alongside becoming a mum."

The source also notes that while Cherry is definitely looking forward to being home with the pair's child, she isn't planning to be a stay-at-home mom indefinitely. She has reportedly enrolled in a post-graduate degree program in sustainable business at Cambridge University.

Ed announced that he would be taking a break from music in December 2019, and it seems that they've always planned to try to have a child during that time.

"Ed and Cherry have spoken about having kids for some time and their intention was to try during his break from music," the source notes. "Ed didn't want to be halfway around the world, jetting around on private planes, when Cherry was expecting. He wanted to be right next to her every step of the way and it's just worked out so perfectly for them."

Ed and Cherry started dating in 2015, but they have known one another for quite some time. They actually met when they were 11 and even went to school together. They ended up reconnecting when Ed played a few concerts in New York, where Cherry lived.

Since then, Cherry and Ed have been pretty inseparable. Cherry took a year off from her job in 2016 so she could travel the world with Ed.

The singer told DJ Zane Lowe during a Beats1 interview, "This has been the first time I've actually had the time to fall in love properly. So the catalyst of taking a year off was also the fact that my partner quit her job in New York — which she's now got back in London, which is really cool — but we were just basically like, let's quit our jobs and have a year of forming a tight bond. So we went traveling and spent every day for a year together."

Earlier this year, a friend of the couple reportedly told the Daily Mail that many children are in the pair's future:

"Ed comes from a large Catholic family and he wants to have a house full of kids."

In fact, there's a pretty good reason to assume he might be hoping for five kids.

It turns out that the heavily inked singer plans to add tattoo tributes to his kids.

The friend said, "He has had five intertwined circles put on his back that look a bit like the Olympic rings. He wants to put a tattoo of a palm print into each circle."

Ed's decision to take a break from music in December 2019 was disappointing to some fans, but now the reason why he chose to do so seems to make more sense. He broke the news on Instagram:

"Hello all. Gonna go on another break again. The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it's all over it's time to go out and see some more of the world. I've been a bit non-stop since 2017 so I'm just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read."

He continued, "I'll be off all social media until it's time to come back. To my family and friends, see ya when I see ya, and to my fans, thank you for always being amazing. I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right, and I've lived a little more to actually have something to write about."

His manager, Stuart Camp, openly hinted that a baby might be on the way.

"He won't sit still for long, he's not the holiday sort. But things may change, he could have a young family relatively soon."
