It would almost be a shame to eat this! Almost…
Portuguese chef Joaquim Sousa makes all kinds of dishes that are just as wonderful to look at as they are to eat. They all look a bit more complicated to create than this easy deep-friend ice cream, but the end result is always a beautiful work of culinary art. Sometimes, his creations even move! Yep, you read that correctly.
I have no idea what the science is behind this phenomenon, but I'm simply astounded! The hot cream makes the ball of chocolate behave like a beautiful flower in the springtime. And the floral and fruity surprises inside just make it even more appealing! Some people might complain that unlike this three-ingredient coffee ice cream, this chocolate flower takes a lot of effort for such a small amount of food. Even I'll be the first to admit that I like my dessert in bulk. But when it comes to gastronomical artistry, consuming the creation is more about the experience than leaving the table completely stuffed.
If you want to try Chef Sousa's creations for yourself, you might have to do some traveling. If you ever find yourself in Portugal, though, be sure to make a stop at Restaurant Ipsylon in Hotel The Oitavos. Who knows what amazing things your meal will do?
