Proof That Walter Has Absolutely No Filter — Especially When It Comes To Marriage

Walter may be a grumpy old man, but Jeff Dunham’s dummy is probably the funniest pessimist you’ll ever encounter.

There’s a scene from one of Dunham’s famous stand-up shows from 2006, Arguing with Myself, that made me laugh until I cried the first time I saw it. It’s the memorable moment when Walter expresses his frustrations with married life.

Walter, who has been married for 46 years, makes it very clear that he prefers the long lost days when he didn’t have to preoccupy himself with a nagging wife.

“Women age like fine wine,” says Dunham, who has sold millions of copies of his DVD specials.

Walter doesn’t agree, telling the popular ventriloquist, “She’s aging like milk.”

But, it gets even funnier when Walter begins giving some marriage advice to Dunham, who at the time said he was married for 15 years.

“Remember the day you said, 'Till death do us part?’ ” Walter asks. “Later you’ll realize you’re actually setting a goal.”

Sure, Walter’s rants might make women a little weary — I know I certainly wouldn’t want my future husband talking about me like that at any age — but there’s something about the character’s candor that just makes the skit pure comedy.
