Scarface has become an American classic. Decades after the film’s release, people still quote lines like, “Say hello to my little friend” and “I always tell the truth, even when I lie.”
Al Pacino’s portrayal of the Cuban immigrant Tony Montana, who takes over a drug cartel, is also regarded as one of the most popular movie characters of all time.
That’s why when comedian George Lopez did his impression of Tony Montana during the 35th AFI Life Achievement Award: A Salute To Al Pacino in 2007, it was almost impossible not to laugh.
Lopez walked on stage wearing an outfit almost identical to Montana’s famous white suit and red dress shirt. He immediately got the approval of Pacino, who couldn’t stop smiling. Lopez also had the recognizable Montana accent down packed.
“Scarface is a story about a Cuban immigrant who understood in this country, first you gotta make the money. Then, when you get the money, you get the power. And then, when you get the power, you get the woman. You know who said that first? Rosie O'Donnell,” Lopez said.
Yet nothing is more unexpected than what Lopez does at the 2:37 mark — it made the whole crowd break out in some serious laughter.
