Homelessness is an ongoing issue in America with more and more cities seeing a spike in homelessness rates each year.
While there are stigmas tied to the homeless population in America — which, in January 2013, included more than 600,000 people — Omar Gosh released a video to counter some of them.
In the clip, Gosh approached several homeless people on the street and asked them if they could spare some change. What happens next blew me away: although most of the people Gosh talks to would appear to own almost nothing, they still managed to find something — be it food or money — to give him.
After receiving their offers, Gosh then displayed his own generosity and gave $20 to any who were willing to help, which was the case with this homeless man when he was given $100.
One homeless man quickly offered him a portion of his food, saying, “One day you might have a chance to share with me.”
Another initially rejected Gosh's money because she really thought he was in the same predicament as her.
The generosity continued further when Gosh gave one man his sneakers. You won’t believe what the homeless man does with his own shoes at the 3:42 mark.
“The purpose of this video is to show others that you can give no matter what you have. If these people can give, then you can give, too,” Gosh said.
Gosh, who is known mostly for his pranks, also asks people to stop saying they’ll give back once they are “rich.”
“I’m not rich, so please don’t make that excuse,” he said. “If you’re not giving now, you won’t give when you’re rich.”
