There are good people in the world, then there are the heroes at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. All of the animals under their care were meant for milk production or breeding, not quality of life. Whether abandoned or rescued, the ducks, cows, and lambs that end up at Woodstock Sanctuary are given a second chance to live, and in freedom!
The Sanctuary was offered a particular challenge when two-year-old Fawn arrived on their doorstep. Fawn was brought into the world to be used for milk production but fell on concrete, fracturing her front legs. Fortunately, the farmer found the cow a home with someone looking for a pet. However, her injury was not treated properly and a horrible infection set in.
As Fawn grew, her fractured legs couldn't support the weight of her body, so she had to move on her knees, making walking terribly difficult. By the time she arrived at the Sanctuary, they were convinced she wouldn't survive.
As a last resort, they brought her to a specialist at Cornell University who had hope that Fawn would live. The doctors fell in love with Fawn and were able to perform a successful surgery. Now she has physical therapy daily and wears special braces on her legs. Recovery will be a long and arduous process, but well worth it!
This story is absolutely incredible! Fawn has been so lucky to have people love and care for her, despite her bleak beginnings. It makes me so thrilled to know she has a happy future ahead of her! Don't you agree?
