When we read the phrase tiny home nowadays, we sometimes visualize cramped, compact living by people who're stubbornly devoted to proving they can do it. But not so, upon further inspection. People have countless reasons to downsize, and the term micro-living also has its own scale of what constitutes “tiny."
Sure, a ton of people are attempting to live in the smallest possible square footage, most at or around 250 square feet (of course, there are homes where the square footage is even smaller, if you can imagine). Sometimes the reason is affordability, sometimes it’s environmental consciousness, and sometimes its simply a need to scale back the clutter for a more peaceful state of living — all worthy causes that drive the tiny home economy.
But the couple in the video below walk the line between truly micro-living quarters and a more traditional home space. It’s still much smaller than the home they’d previously lived in and still counts as a “tiny home,” but it’s interesting to hear them talk about how they rid themselves of their excess material possessions in favor of a smaller home with much nicer amenities. They have a full kitchen and dining area with completely renovated interiors, and the best part is that they describe it as even nicer than any home they could afford before. You see? The benefits can be big when you go small.
