I Wasn’t Sure Why She Was Dancing In The Street, But When I Saw Where She Was? CHILLS!

Adrianne Haslet-Davis was one of many people whose lives changed on April 15, 2013 when bombs went off at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. She lost part of her left leg, which would be devastating enough for anyone, but it nearly cost Adrianne her career. She was a ballroom dance instructor and relied on her swift, graceful movements for a living. She nearly gave up on her dreams forever, but then, the amputee community convinced her to keep dancing not only for herself, but for everyone who needed inspiration after losing a limb. On April 28, 2015, Adrianne showed the whole world the power of dance in a performance that's impossible to forget.

Adrianne has shown us her incredible resilience before, such as when she performed this amazing dance less than two-hundred days after having her leg amputated. She's become a national symbol for the phrase, "Boston Strong!" and was even given the opportunity to perform at a TED conference! But returning back to the Boston Marathon finish line and dancing across it has to be one of the most powerful displays of emotional strength I've ever seen. In such a short dance, she manages to communicate so much about overcoming your greatest obstacles with grace, love, and passion. The smile on her face says it all: She's conquered the greatest battle of her life, and she refuses to let a finish line be her stopping point.

I can't lie — I definitely teared up watching Adrianne perform such a beautiful dance at a place where her life was turned upside down. She's truly an inspiration to anyone who's ever been faced with a seemingly insurmountable hardship. Her world may have stopped on that fateful April day, but she's showing everyone that the rest of her life has only just begun.
