If you grew up with one of television's longest running variety series, The Ed Sullivan Show, then you're in for a treat.
There's nothing like a healthy dose of nostalgia to put a smile on your face, and the video below is certainly is certainly a contender for one of the classics. Comedic duo the Smothers Brothers joined the Sullivan program on June 19, 1966 to perform an acoustic duet. Clever as they were, they spin a tale about a number of places of worship in their purported "little home town," each with bells that ring a particular tune. And while the end of the bit is clipped, as many commenters mention, the bell sounds sung one after another form the classic "Shave and a Haircut" tune.
However their brotherly bickering makes for laughs, as well. Feigning an accidental slip of the tongue during their bid about the Catholic church in their little home town, they bicker with each other while one apologizes and the other chides him asking, "When did you first realize that you said it?" The audience roars in laughter as this buffoonery continues on for some time. "Do you know anything at all about the Catholics?"
"No."
"They'll get you."
