Climbers in Mexico stumbled upon something very unexpected and eerie during a day on the country’s highest peak.
While climbing the Pico de Orizaba in June 2015, the climbers found a frozen head poking out from the ground. To their disbelief, it was a dead body. Sure, we often hear the various ghost tales of abandoned homes or the ones that show up in photographs, but almost nothing could prepare a person for such a sight. It could startle anyone!
The body is believed to belong to a young man who died in a plane crash in the 1990s since he wasn't wearing clothes appropriate for the weather in a mountain.
What’s even creepier is this isn’t the first body to come to the surface in the region. Three months earlier, climbers found two other mummified bodies buried in the melting snow. Those corpses are believed to be the remains of two climbers who vanished on November 2, 1959.
"Their position surprised us because they are apparently in an embrace. The arm of one of them is on the body of the other," said mountaineer Francisco Rodriguez.
The footage in the video below shows the two mummified bodies, which are almost too hard to believe.
