Adele Finally Reaches Divorce Settlement With Simon Konecki After 2 Long Years

Adele and ex-husband Simon Konecki had quite a history before getting married. The pair were together for five years before tying the knot. However, that knot quickly unraveled.

"They are committed to raising their son together lovingly," their official statement to the public read. "As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment."

The split was especially interesting, as Adele rarely went into detail about Simon. For her fans, he was somewhat of a mystery. There aren't even too many photos of them together.

In January 2012, Adele finally opened up about their relationship. Just months later, she announced she was pregnant. For fans who didn't know her history with Simon, it seemed like a lot at the time.

And that may have been one of the reasons why things didn't work out. While Adele seemed very happy and in love, so much was changing.

The couple shares 8-year-old Angelo, who is Adele's first and only child. Simon has another child from a prior relationship. At the time of Angelo's birth, Adele and Simon weren't married, but they made it official years later in 2017. Even then, they were quiet about it.

The two had separated by April 2019. One telling sign was that Adele seemed to have signed off her home to her ex two months before the announcement was made. On September 12, 2019, Adele finally made things official by filing for divorce. According to Us Weekly, they "realized the romantic love was no longer there."

Adele and Simon have figured out a genius solution to co-parenting. According to People magazine, the two actually live across the street from each other. It's a genius way to make sure Angelo doesn't lose time with either of them with a commute.

"They are doing what's best for Angelo," the source told People. "Her son is her world." It's been especially convenient this past year, with everyone having to keep socially distant and shelter in place. That change, in itself, was reportedly a great one for the singer, who used the time at home to really embrace motherhood.

"She helps Angelo with schoolwork and cooks. She very much enjoys being a stay-at-home mom right now," the source said. While Adele has always loved motherhood, the change in schedule — and lack of touring — has given her more one-on-one time with Angelo.

Motherhood was also the reason for her big transformation. On Instagram, Adele showcased a new look. "Adele wanted to feel better, eat healthier and improve herself," a source said, per People. "After she became a mother, she went all out to improve herself as a person. Working out and sweating gives her energy. She feels mentally healthier." It's also possible the split had something to do with it.

Despite the two working so well to co-parent together, it seems as if the divorce settlement took more time. People reports that they just filed a judgment packet with the Los Angeles court. That document has not been entered or signed by a judge just yet, but it's likely in the process. When asked for the reason for the split, Adele put down irreconcilable differences.

While the crooner of so many sad songs may have some tunes in the works about her ex, she's already moved on to another relationship. Adele is reportedly dating rapper Skepta. Sources tell People that the two happen to run in the same circles and ended up connecting romantically.

Skepta, who's 38, is originally from the Tottenham district of London. "Things have been heating up," a source told People. "They run in the same circles in London, and she's having fun." The two have been friendly for some time and have a lot in common.

"Adele texts me all the time and keeps me in check," he reportedly said in a 2016 interview with the Evening Standard, per People. "She speaks to me about how things are going." One thing they have in common is that they're both parents.

According to Elle, a source said that this match was in the making for quite some time. "Some of their friends are hoping and predicting they could end up being a great couple one day," the source said. Having such a strong support system among their friends likely helped their relationship thrive.

Skepta was hooked right around the time that Adele tweeted his picture out to her fans. "She gassed me up," he said. "One day I was just chilling and she [tweeted] a picture that said 'Tottenham boy' and she's from Tottenham as well. I was actually going to quit music that day, that was one of the sickest things ever. She's like the lady of Tottenham."

Based on this news, it seems as if Adele is handling everything responsibly. She's making sure that her son is always her top priority, but she's not afraid to devote some time to herself and her own love life. It seems as if this is the best-case scenario for everyone.

At this stage in life, Adele seems to know how to find her own happiness. And even though it seemed as if her relationship with Simon was legit, it's healthy that she moved on when she realized it just wasn't right anymore. She proved that she's able to move forward.
