I have a lot of family living in the south, and I love visiting. Every dinner includes two of my favorite things: cold, sweet tea and hot mashed potatoes.
My mother’s a great cook. She definitely taught me everything she knows, but I had no idea my entire family has been peeling potatoes the hard way. We have been wasting so much time doing it.
Who knew an “ice bath” was the key to a quick and easy peeling of potatoes?
I can’t wait until I get the chance to go back and visit. While she’s busy preparing turkey, gravy, dressing and dozens of other sides, I’ll save her some time and impress her with this new technique.
Actually, I don't know if I can wait. I'm going home tonight and I'm preparing myself some deliciously creamy and smooth mashed potatoes.
