Man Is Seen Dangling From Utah Amusement Park Ride Before Falling 50 Feet To His Death

A simple Utah amusement park ride that doubles as relaxing transportation with a view of the park shockingly became the site of an emergency.

Guests at Lagoon Amusement Park in Utah noticed a man dangling from the park's Sky Ride. Similar to a ski lift, the ride transports guests from one side of the park to the other. A guest at the park was capturing the view from the ride when she was shocked to see a man hanging from the lift chair passing her on one side.

Initially, the dangling man didn't seem panicked about the situation. Soon after, everyone was panicked after seeing the man fall 50 feet.

A Saturday visit to a Utah amusement park left many guests completely shocked when they witnessed a man die. It was just before 6 p.m. when several guests at Lagoon Amusement Park noticed a man hanging from the Sky Ride, a ski-lift type transportation system that takes guests from one side of the park to the other while enjoying beautiful views.

The 32-year-old man appeared calm, leading some guests to question whether this was an intentional action by a stunt man. He didn't appear to be trying to get back into the ride, and park officials were able to confirm the ride didn't malfunction in any way.

A number of people took photos and videos of the dangling man. It's unclear how many people contacted park officials, but in just a split second, there was a completely different situation at hand. The man fell over 50 feet to the ground below him.

There were multiple 911 calls upon the fall. The man was rushed by medical helicopter to the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was determined to be in critical condition, and on Monday authorities confirmed he had died of his injuries. Investigators are still unclear how the man came to be dangling from the ride.

"We don't know why he did that or what was going on," Farmington Police Chief Wayne Hansen told KSL.com.

"We just don't know."
